66-Year-Old Charged for Shooting Mission Woman’s Dog

MISSION – A man was arrested and charged with animal cruelty after reportedly shooting a woman’s dog.

Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office says on Oct. 9, 66-year-old Charles Dean Lawson allegedly shot a dog’s right leg.

It happened at approximately 7 p.m. on 3 Mile Line Road and Bentsen Palm Drive in Mission.

An investigation lead to Lawson’s arrest Wednesday, Oct. 30, and was charged with animal cruelty to a non-livestock animal.

The 66-year-old received a $25,000 bond.
