MCALLEN – The seven men accused of trying to rob a jewelry store at La Plaza Mall over the weekend are expected to go before a judge.

The attempted heist happened Saturday afternoon and caused widespread panic.

McAllen police tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS the arraignment could possibly be as late as Monday night.

They explained this is because the court staff is still preparing packets on the suspects.

Chief Victor Rodriguez of the McAllen Police Department says one of the hangups in the investigation is the seven suspects in the case only have tentative identification.

He says officers with McAllen police believe IDs the suspects have provided are not truthful.
