On Thursday, journalists were allowed inside the Delphi Emergency Intake Site in Donna, for the first time since its expansion, made to accommodate thousands of migrant children who cross the border illegally and without a parent. 

While federal authorities said the number of children in the custody of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection had decreased significantly, as of Thursday, there are 331.

The facility has two significant tents, referred to as 'Donna 1' and 'Donna 2', which hold the most migrant processing activity. 

Though the facility was not overcrowded, journalists saw many migrants sitting together on benches or standing in line were seen during the media tour. 

Pre-screening medical equipment, water, and food were observed near a row of computers for processing migrant background information. 

The facility has carpet and tile flooring and is equipped with air conditioning and two large trailers filled with washers and dryers for the 24-hour child care service personnel to use. 

A large storage unit area filled with food, diapers, baby formula, blankets, and other necessary amenities is also available for the migrants. 

The sleeping area referred to as 'cubes' was not as crowded during the media visit as it was back in March when images surfaced of more than 50 people packed into the small space. 

Border Patrol agents confirmed a third Donna tent facility, named 'Donna 3', will be constructed primarily for those pod cube areas for migrants to wait to be processed and sleep. 

Donna 3 is expected to be complete by the end of May.
