SOUTH PADRE ISLAND - The American Electric Power Texas invites South Padre Island and Port Isabel residents to an open house.

AEP Texas will be discussing the South Padre Island and Port Isabel Transmission Improvements Project.

The project includes a rebuild of about 12 miles of 138-kilovolt transmission line.

The project also plans to reduce the likelihood and duration of power outages, while supporting economic growth and the region’s crucial tourism sector.

The event takes place Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the South Padre Island Community Center.
