MERCEDES – For some veterans who have served and now live alone, the holiday season may be a struggle.

According to the United States Department of Veteran's Affairs, suicide is a concern for veterans and it only gets worse this time of year.

With 104 members, the J. A. Garcia American Legion Post 172 in Mercedes tries to help and holds events almost every day, bringing veterans of different branches of military services.together.

You can visit the J. A. Garcia American Legion Post 172 in Mercedes from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. everyday except Tuesdays.
