SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – The date for a special election for mayor of South Padre Island is set.

The election will be held on May 4; the same day as city and school elections across the Rio Grande Valley.

The deadline for residents who wish to file their name on the ballot is March 4.

Candidate filing packet can be picked up at city hall during regular business hours.
