EDINBURG – Edinburg city leaders decided not to renew the contract with the local animal shelter.

The city says they didn’t meet the deadline due to the increase in the cost of the contract.

The director of development at the Palm Valley Animal Center, Rebecca Villanueva, gave the city two weeks to reconsider.

The city decided to sign the contract at the Edinburg city council meeting on Wednesday.

KRGV’s Trason Bragg has the details.
