Former Edcouch city manager accused of theft enters not guilty plea
EDINBURG – A former Edcouch city manager says he is not guilty of theft.
Eduardo Gonzalez was arrested back in May. According to the criminal complaint, a water meter and water tap were installed without the required $500 fee. The water deposit fee and more than 1,200 gallons of water was also left unpaid.
In total, Gonzalez is alleged to owe about $930. His attorney told CHANNEL 5 NEWS Gonzalez denies the accusations and entered a not guilty plea Monday.
A trial date was scheduled for Gonzalez in March.
A former city water department supervisor was also charged for allowing for the installation of the meter without the payment. She is currently not being prosecuted.
