MERCEDES – A deadly accident in Mercedes is prompting its residents to ask for change.

David Gobellan, 19, was riding his bicycle last Thursday night along Mile 2 East Rd when he was struck by a vehicle. He didn’t survive.

People living along the road and friends of the victim are calling for quicker response times and sidewalks.

KRGV’s Valerie Gonzalez reached out to the city of Mercedes.

The interim city manager says an order for lighting was submitted already. He adds their concerns will be first on the agenda in their next meeting.
