Rio Hondo Lift Bridge Expected to Open Next February
RIO HONDO – The only operable lift bridge in Texas is still under construction but it’s almost complete.
The Texas Department of Transportation started rehabilitating the Rio Hondo Bridge in 2016.
“The bridge deck has to be primed and it had to be painted not once, not twice, but three times,” he said TxDOT spokesperson Octavio Saenz. “That’s what they’re doing right now, they’re doing the third coat. So, we’re on the last loop, the last hurdle on finishing the Rio Hondo Bridge.”
Saenz explained the bridge will be complete by late February.
He said once it’s complete, bridge workers will have to test it out for a couple of weeks.
