Teen Arrested for Leading Police on Car Chase near Sullivan City

SULLIVAN CITY – A teenager was arrested for leading police in a car chase near Sullivan City, Monday afternoon.

According to the Sullivan City police chief, it started when an officer tried to pull over the driver for speeding. The driver instead kept going.

The chase went through La Joya and Penitas with the driver ending up in an embankment.

He and five passengers took off running but were all caught.

The 17-year-old is from the Mission area. He’s facing charges of smuggling, evading arrest and fleeing.

The five people were turned over to Customs and Border Protection.
