BROWNSIVLLE – A Brownsville shelter is now facing a new challenge of not being able to provide medication and vaccines to those who need treatment.

The Good Neighbor Settlement House can no longer provide proscriptions or over-the-counter medications.

The clinic at the shelter is open every Tuesday for three hours.

Migrants are making up the growing population of the patients treated there.

"We've been really good at assisting our clients, our street homeless and those that are in the community that have been seen at our clinic and so we've been able to stretch that out, but once we started assisting asylum seekers that money just went really quick,” said Belinda Bradford, the shelter’s assistant director.

Bradford says since Border Patrol drop-offs began three months ago, the shelter as assisted more than 5,000 migrants.
