PENITAS – The Texas Department of Transportation has begun construction on Expressway 83 to improve Penita’s drainage system.

Drivers are to expect major delays due to road closures along the eastbound lanes of Expressway 83 from Tom Gill to Business 83.

A TxDOT contractor will install large box culverts across the highway as part of the Penitas Drain Phase 2 Project.

One lane of traffic will be closed during the duration of this project, which is expected to be complete by the week of August 15.
