BROWNSVILLE – A man has died after he nearly drowned two miles toward the jetties at Boca Chica Beach.

The man was pulled out of the water not breathing. Bystanders performed CPR. Brownsville fire arrived and continued CPR.

Brownsville's fire chief said the man went into cardiac arrest.

He was taken to Valley Regional Medical Center, but he died. He was identified as 41-year-old Daniel Vasquez.
